The Authentic Nigeria Football and Allied Sports Supporters Club (ANFASSC) is thrilled to share the exciting news that Super Falcons midfielder, Toni Payne, has completed her move to Everton. Announced through Everton’s official channels, Payne joins the Women’s Super League side on a free transfer after her contract with Sevilla came to an end.
During her six years with Sevilla, Payne was a standout performer, scoring 30 goals in 169 Liga Feminine appearances. Her remarkable journey through European football also saw her playing for Dutch club Ajax. Payne’s prowess on the field has been recognized on the international stage as well, with 21 caps for the Nigerian national team. She was a vital part of the Super Falcons squad that competed in the FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand last summer.
Expressing her excitement about the move, Payne said, “I’m super-excited to be an Everton player. It’s been my dream to play in the UK and in such a strong league like the WSL.” She added that joining Everton, a club with rich football history, is a significant milestone in her career.
Everton manager Brian Sorensen shared his enthusiasm about signing Payne, highlighting her versatility, speed, and extensive experience. “I’m extremely happy to bring Toni to the club. She is exactly the type of player we need,” Sorensen said. He is confident that Payne’s addition will bolster the team’s performance in the Women’s Super League.
As Payne embarks on this new chapter, ANFASSC wishes her all the best and looks forward to seeing her excel at Everton.
