The stage is set, and the journey to the 2024 Paris Olympics is well underway for Nigeria’s women’s basketball team, D’Tigress. After a remarkable victory at the women’s Afrobasket earlier this year, they’ve secured a coveted spot at the pre-Olympic qualifiers. But the road ahead is far from easy, as they will have to overcome fierce competition to claim one of the remaining 10 Olympic tickets up for grabs through the qualifying tournaments. In this blog post, we’ll delve into D’Tigress’ path to Paris 2024 and what lies ahead for this formidable team.

For each nation still vying for a place in the Olympics, the path to Paris 2024 has now been firmly established. Among the contenders, only France and the United States have their spots locked up, with France as the 2022 FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup champions and the United States as the Olympic hosts. Remarkably, both these teams will still participate in the qualifying tournaments, highlighting the competitiveness of the upcoming battles.

While the excitement is palpable, we’ll have to patiently await a later announcement regarding the release of the 2024 FIBA Women’s Olympic Qualifying Tournament game schedule. The schedule will reveal when D’Tigress and other contenders will face off in their quest for Olympic glory.

D’Tigress found themselves in Group B, alongside strong competitors Senegal, Belgium, and the reigning Olympic Champions, the United States of America. This group promises intense and thrilling matches, where every game will be crucial.

The events that will decide D’Tigress’ fate are scheduled to take place from February 8 to 11 in Antwerp, Belgium. This four-day period will be pivotal for D’Tigress as they aim to secure their place in the prestigious Olympic Games.

Currently ranked 11th in the world by FIBA, D’Tigress is well aware that they will have to overcome some of the best teams on the planet to earn their ticket to the Paris 2024 Olympics. Their journey is a testament to their resilience and dedication, and they are more than ready to face this challenge head-on.
