As the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris draw near, Nigeria’s senior national women’s basketball team, D’Tigress, has received a motivating call to excel and make the nation proud. This encouragement comes from the management of Zenith Bank Plc, the proud sponsors of Nigeria’s annual national women’s basketball league.

The team secured their spot in the Olympics after a strong performance in the qualifying tournament held in Antwerp, Belgium, where they competed in Group B against Germany, Australia, and Belgium. In Paris, D’Tigress will face Australia on July 29, host nation France on August 1, and Canada on August 4.

Zenith Bank’s Group Managing Director, Adaora Umeoji, expressed confidence in the team’s abilities, stating, “We are hopeful they will do well. We want them to work hard and get good results for Nigeria and Africa.” The bank’s long-standing support has been pivotal in developing talent for the national team.

Head Coach Rena Wakama also shared her optimism, highlighting the team’s positive preparation and readiness to showcase their skills on the global stage.
