The Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC), led by President Habu Gumel and Secretary-General Babatunde Popoola, is intensifying preparations to ensure our athletes are in top form. At a strategic meeting in Abuja, Popoola emphasized the importance of a dual approach combining domestic camps with foreign training tours in countries like Germany, Spain, Italy, and the U.S.

Key Points:
Comprehensive Roadmap: Stakeholders have mapped out a detailed plan and technical training program.
Expert Coaching: Leveraging both local and international expertise.
State-of-the-Art Facilities: Ensuring athletes train with the best equipment.
Popoola stated, β€œThe combination of domestic camping and foreign training tours is essential. It ensures our athletes are well-prepared and ready to compete at the highest level.”

With the aim of surpassing Nigeria’s best Olympic performance from Atlanta 1996, Team Nigeria is leaving no stone unturned. The Paris Olympics, scheduled from July 26 to August 11, will be a showcase of our nation’s talent and determination.

Olympic Day Celebration
The NOC is also set to celebrate the 2024 edition of Olympic Day on June 29. This annual event highlights the benefits of physical activity and promotes Olympic values. Events will be held nationwide, with states such as Anambra, Gombe, Taraba, Bayelsa, Imo, and Ondo already registered to participate.

Chairman of NOC Sport For All Commission, Abdul Ibrahim, promises a successful event filled with physical fitness activities, including aerobic exercises and jogging. The celebration will conclude with the presentation of Diploma certificates signed by the President of the International Olympic Committee.

We also want to give special kudos to NOC President Habu Gumel, who was born in Gumel, Jigawa State. His leadership and dedication have been instrumental in our preparations for the Paris Olympics. As an honorary member of the International Olympic Committee, his influence and commitment continue to inspire our athletes and sports community.
